reflections

sanskrit symbol for the sacred hindu sound -- om     things to think about
        while doing hatha yoga...

try to breathe in and out through the nose.

breathe using the diaphragm...quiet, smooth, conscious.

pay attention to your breathing. if is is tight, forced, short, or held... pause -- you are over-exerting yourself. use a modification or take a break.

learn to use your breathing to calm and relax tightness and tension. this is yoga in action, the mindful union of opposites. through the breath, one learns to relax the tendencies to tense in difficult situations/poses.

there is no such thing as a perfect pose. allow the pose to conform to your unique self within a safe alignment. remember, no two persons are the same. we all have different strengths, flexibility and life experiences.

you should not experience a sharp or burning sensation, strain or pain while stretching in a pose. progress slowly with a healthy stretch.

challenge yourself without judgement. this is your practice, do what you can and leave the rest behind with a smile.

listen to your body. respect yourself and the gold of yoga will be yours.
